Write your own story!
By Dr. Donita Grissom
Every year on March 14, we celebrate National Write Your Own Story Day, a reminder that each of us holds the power to shape our own narrative. Whether it’s overcoming obstacles, setting new goals, or redefining our purpose, this day encourages us to take control of our story and embrace the journey ahead.
For educators, this message is especially meaningful. Teaching is a profession filled with challenges, breakthroughs, and endless opportunities for growth. Yet, in the midst of grading papers, managing classrooms, and navigating ever-changing educational landscapes, teachers often forget one crucial thing: they are the authors of their own professional and personal story. This is where High Five to Thrive comes in. Our book is designed to help teachers reclaim their passion, navigate stress, and build a thriving career—one chapter at a time. Just like any author crafts a compelling story, teachers have the ability to reshape their mindset, rediscover their “why,” and create a more fulfilling teaching experience.
Whether you're a new teacher finding your way or a veteran educator looking for renewal, National Write Your Own Story Day is a reminder that your journey is far from over. Each day presents an opportunity to write a new page, revise an old one, or start an entirely new chapter. So, what will you write today? Will you reignite your passion, redefine your path, and reshape your story? High Five to Thrive is here to help you take that next step—because the best chapters are still ahead. Share your story! What is one way you are rewriting your narrative as an educator? Let’s inspire each other in the comments!
